5 Step Fertilization and Weed Control Program
All of our applications include a fertilizer program that is a combination of nitrogen and iron to promote both healthy green turf, and strong root growth. In addition to this fertilization, each application will include in the following as outlined below:

Application 1: Includes a spring is a pre-emergent application which targets broadleaf weeds and crabgrass. (April/May)

The goal of this application is to eliminate any unwanted weed or woody plant growth that can take place in the cooler late- season to promote healthy turf and soil conditions going into the dormant season, setting the
turf up for success the following spring. (September/October)

Spring Clean Up

Our spring clean-up generally takes place between April 10th and May 10th depending on the weather. It includes a thorough cleaning of leaves and foreign debris from the turf and landscaped areas by means of power blowing, raking, sweeping, dethatching and lawn mowing. All leaves and foreign debris will be removed from your property and disposed of in a responsible, legal manner. We will leave your property clean and ready for summer!

Fall Clean Up

Our fall clean-up generally takes place between October 20th and November 20th. It includes a thorough cleaning of leaves and foreign debris from the turf and landscaped areas by means of power blowing, raking or sweeping. It also includes a final mowing for the season. For this final mowing, we set the height of our mower blades slightly lower to protect the lawn from winter diseases. All leaves and foreign debris are removed from your property and disposed of in a responsible, legal manner.

Core Aeration

Core Aeration is a process that perforates the soil with small holes that allow air, water, and fertilizer to get closer to the roots. This enables the roots to grow deeper, producing a healthier lawn. Aeration can be a physically demanding process to do, save yourself time and a back ache by having Monson Lawn and Landscaping aerate your property for you!

Dethatching

Dethatching is one of the most important and beneficial treatments you can do for your lawn.

What is thatch? Thatch is a layer of dead grass, roots and debris that can form between the soil surface and the grass blades above. Over time, it will form a thick mat on top of the soil, which hinders water and air from reaching the soil, resulting in a perfect environment for pests and diseases. Dethatching is the process of removing this layer of thatch from your lawn. By removing the thatch, it enables the grass roots to grow deeper, resulting in a greener, thicker, more beautiful lawn! Dethatching should be done once per season.
